The mice capture work continues by three Edinburgh Zoo and/or Wildlife Park staff. Fraser, Meda and Tom returned Wednesday 12th October. There have been 91 mice caught in total. Rat trapping also continues. To date 28 rats have been caught. The trap sets have now been set around Tighard, Nora’s garden and the dog kennels.
Establishing the bait station grid has been basically completed - over 4200 stations have been put out over the entire island. The only remaining bait stations are needed in the steeper areas and/or rope access areas – the final 94 stations. With the exception of these steeper areas, the numbering the bait station grid has also been completed.
The weather was much improved this week, with only one day lost to rain. Inside work and planning was undertaken during this time. The delivery of the bait has been delayed again and it is now due into Liverpool on 23rd October, and should be delivered to Canna by 31st October.
Two team members have been sick this week. All the team is now fit and well.
A live, but ill, loggerhead turtle was found on the beach along the Tarbert Road. It has been sent off the island to the Oban Marine Sealife Centre for rehabilitation and eventual re-release.
