Over the past week, the remainder of all the bait stations around the island were cleared of bait and cleaned of debris and mould (after the Christmas break). Monitoring stations were checked during this time, but many had been affected by cattle, sheep or birds. Rat sign was only found in one location (Bresgor). Once the bait had been cleared and stations cleaned, the next baiting round was begun. By Sunday 15th January, half of the island had been re-baited and new monitoring stations also replaced (most in sites were stock cannot view them easily). The re-baiting will continue into next week and then checks will restart. Intensive monitoring will continue during each bait check, and specific sites are having more monitoring added.
Although the weather was quite bad this week (with no ferry at all), only one day in the field was lost. Candles, soaps and chewsticks were cut and drilled during this time.
