STATUS REPORT 20

Monday 30th January to Sunday 5th February 2006

         WMIL

The first and second intensive monitoring checks were completed, with only one location found to have rat sign (Garrisdale area – along the shore). This site was not active during the second check and ten blocks of bait were taken from nearby bait stations.

As usual monitoring stations continue to be affected by cattle, sheep or birds. Gerry MacKinnon has moved two herds of cows to ensure we can get a complete check from those paddocks and Compass Hill areas without interference from cattle. Some extra areas had additional monitoring lines put in. No days were lost to bad weather. Candles and chewsticks were cut and drilled during evenings.

Iain Smith (NTS volunteer) arrived on Tuesday 31st January. Corinna Goeckeritz (NTS volunteer) and Charles Thompson (WMIL) departed on Saturday 4th February and Sarah Pullar (NTS volunteer) arrived on Saturday 4th March.
