The remainder of the final monitoring check was completed this week, with the exception of Iolasgor and the western section of the Nunnery. Traps and tracking pads that have been placed in areas of previous rat sign have not caught any rats or shown any rat sign. These have now been removed.
Martin Carty continued with the sea eagle monitoring. He updates the project team with information on the birds, in particular the location of activity and behaviour of both pairs as well as other raptor species.
The bait stations in the in-bye land, Tarbert Parks and western end of Sanday have been removed. The stations have been stored in Coroghon Barn. The wires and canes have been stored on the mezzanine in the main implement shed. The remainder of Sanday will be cleared this coming week. All other bait stations will remain in place. A permanent line of bait/monitoring stations has been put in around the coast of Sanday.
Murdo assisted with moving the remaining unused bait from Sanday church to the main implement shed. All unused bait is now on the mezzanine floor. More glass recycling from Canna House was removed from the island on the Calmac ferry. No days were lost to bad weather.
