NTS Volunteers, Iain Smith, Ellie Burt and Corinna Goeckeritz, arrived on Saturday 14th October.
Continued monitoring at the "summer reported rat sighting areas" has shown no rat sign or activity. Checking all the monitoring in the bait stations has been completed at Lamasgor, Tarbert Road, Tarbert Paddocks and In-Bye. No rat sign has been detected. Monitoring outside the bait stations has been checked at Lamasgor, In-Bye (including Canna House) and Tarbert Road and Tarbet Paddocks. No rat sign has been detected.
Monitoring equipment, mainly chocolate wax, is being made in small batches most days after regular field wor k.The whole team assisted the Islanders with repairing the Beach Road (filling pot-holes). Half of the team also assisted with moving the wool from Tarbet Barn to the Storage sheds on the pier. We also helped move the wool onto the ferry later in the week.
Sea eagles (both adults and juveniles) have been seen during the week. Golden eagles have also been seen on several occasions.
Weather has been variable, with two days lost to rain (but the quad bike was serviced and chocolate wax was made on these days).
